to do
If you’re having problems with your Three UK signal, it’s most likely due to the outage now affecting thousands of customers, but Three has some advice on other things you can try.
In your network coverage and status checker, you can click the “network status” tab, enter your zip code, and see if there’s an outage in your area. Three also recommends turning airplane mode on and off, turning the device off and on, and also checking that your mobile data is on.
It also says to update your phone’s software if necessary; However, the network has confirmed that there is a technical issue that is particularly affecting calls, so it will probably be a matter of waiting for its engineers to fix it.
Three UK responds
We are aware that some customers are having issues with calls at this time. We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible! We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. -JohnJanuary 23, 2025
The @ThreeUKSupport account on X (formerly) Twitter responds to frustrated customers with fairly generic responses, like the one above.
The network has acknowledged that there are problems for “some customers” but has not yet confirmed what is causing them. As on Downdetector, most report that phone calls are the main problem, with internet data and text messages being a minor problem.
We’ve also reached out to Three directly to see if we can get a more detailed explanation of what’s happening and when it might be resolved.
The story so far
It’s still early days for this latest Three UK outage, but Downdetector reports continue to mount. In the 45 minutes since reporting began, around 1:05 p.m., the number has almost reached the 6,500 mark, a fairly considerable figure.
Most people (77%) report problems with voice calls and a minority also say they have no signal. In the TechRadar team, some members of Three’s spectrum (like ID Mobile) say they have a signal but can’t make phone calls.
