Srinagar:
Coronavirus cases in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K) region crossed the 7,000 mark, including 94 deaths, officials said on Sunday.
As many as 127 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the national count to 7,093, according to the latest government data.
Since June 13, the data reveal, around 2,700 cases have been recorded and 41 people, including a 15-day-old baby, have died.
The Kashmir Doctors Association has warned of community transmission and claimed that more than 90% of the region’s population is susceptible to the infection.

Dr. Suhail Naik, head of the association, told Anadolu Agency that recent figures indicate the virus has reached the community and will spread amid an easing of restrictions.
“We cannot bear the excess cases in our underdeveloped health systems… the only remedy available is social distancing, hygiene and prevention,” he said.
While educational institutions remain closed and public transportation remains suspended in the region, some businesses have reopened.
As the pandemic crisis looms, Indian forces continued to violate human rights in the valley, killing more than 130 freedom fighters in more than 40 shootouts so far in 2020.
