It struck at 10:57 p.m. with its epicenter in the Hindu Kush of Afghanistan; no damage reported

An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale shook Islamabad and parts of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday night.
Tremors were felt in several cities of KP including Peshawar, Mardan and Buner. The earthquake was also felt in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi as well as adjacent areas.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake occurred at 10:57 p.m. Pakistan Standard Time. It measured magnitude 5.3 and occurred at a depth of 174 kilometers.

The PMD said the epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage available.
The latest quake comes days after a 5.9 magnitude earthquake triggered tremors in Lahore and several other cities in Punjab as well as parts of KP.
According to the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the tremors were felt in Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Mianwali, Multan, Potohar region and several other districts of the province.
On the same day, another earthquake of magnitude 5.2 struck Barkhan district in Balochistan and adjoining areas, injuring three people.
According to the National Seismic Monitoring Center, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 19 kilometers, with the epicenter located 58 kilometers northeast of Barkhan. Tremors were also felt in Kohlu, Rakhni and Musa Khel.
