It’s officially summer holiday season in the Northern Hemisphere (sorry, Australian and New Zealand readers), and that means it’s time to turn on the TV for the kids before heading off on a family vacation.
However, you don’t want to include any of the following new movies or TV shows for them. None of them are family-friendly, so I recommend loading up something else on one of the best streaming services in the world.
However, once you’re tucked in bed, I implore you to watch one or more of these seven fantastic movies and TV shows. That being said, maybe don’t start with this week’s number one pick before you go to get a good night’s rest, because it’s frightening in the best way possible. — Tom Power, Senior Entertainment Reporter
Obsession (peacock)
Look
I’m not kidding when I say Obsessionthe most successful movie of 2026 so far to finally hit Peacock, it’s insanely fun. I spent weeks thinking about this supernatural horror after watching it, and I admit I also felt uncomfortable for the first few nights after watching it.
For those who don’t know: Obsession follows Bear (Michael Johnston), a lovelorn loser who is in love with one of his best friends, Nikki (Inde Navarrette). When Bear comes across an item called One Wish Willow, he buys one and uses it to make Nikki fall in love with him. It’s a spontaneous action that ends up having horrible and deadly consequences, and will make you constantly repeat “No, no, no, no, no, don’t do that!” by Nikki. line in your head as the plot progresses.
Before you stream it, check out our review of Obsession to see why everyone is, well, obsessed with a movie that, with a reported budget of just $750,000, has grossed $400 million worldwide, broken horror movie box office records, and turned Navarrette into a serial awards contender. And hey, if Peacock isn’t available in your region yet, see where you can rent it or watch the Curry Barker-directed phenomenon. — T.P.
Heartstopper Forever (Netflix)
Look
Guys… the ending we feared is here. Nick and Charlie’s healthy relationship has been a core IP for Netflix original content, but now it all ends with heartbreaker forever.
If you’re bummed that we won’t be getting a full fourth season, don’t be. As Nick, Charlie and the gang prepare before going their separate ways to college, a feature film actually reflects their growing maturity and crises of confidence much more appropriately.
heartbreaker forever It really is forever…at least, it’s in my house, where I’ll be streaming it so much that Netflix might issue a warning. His spirit and generation-defining impact will live on, and that might be the most special achievement the streamer has ever been responsible for. —Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter

Whoever thought about casting Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham together for an Amazon action comedy show needs a raise immediately. ride or die gives us the duo of entertainment we didn’t know we needed and plenty of laughs along the way.

Tackling everything from menopause to, well, the complexities of life, this Prime Video Original is incredibly fun. And surely that is the most important thing in life, right? — J.V.
Good luck (Apple TV)
Look
Is there anything Anya Taylor-Joy can’t do? Since it debuted in Robert Eggers the witchI have been impressed by how varied each of their roles are.
On Apple TV Luckyshe plays a con artist forced to go on the run after a heist goes wrong. Over the course of seven episodes, we follow Luciana ‘Lucky’ Armstrong as she attempts to evade the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, hoping to live up to her nickname and make it out alive. It seems that breaking the law also runs in her family, as Timothy Olyphant plays her father, who is in prison when the story begins.
The first two episodes are now available and something tells me this will be another Apple Original to get hooked on. — Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer
The Falcon (Netflix)
Look
If you ask me, Will Ferrell and golf seem like a natural TV marriage. the falcon on Netflix is proving me right, with Ferrell playing Lonnie Hawkins, a great golfer in 2004. Two decades later, he is trying to recapture his magic at the end of his career. Yet he refuses to believe he’s less than one stroke away from golf’s biggest comeback.
If you have ever seen happy gilmore either The ghost of the openthis is for you… even if you pretend you really know the first thing about the sport, which is easy to do. — J.V.
Descendants: Wicked Wonderland (Disney+)
Look
He Descendants The franchise continues on Disney+ with Evil wonderland, which marks the fifth installment of the series (even I didn’t think there would have been so many).
Picking up shortly after Descendants: The Rise of RedRed and Chloe return from their time travel adventures to discover that the Queen of Hearts is trapped. The once famous villain is now on a roll, but that gives way to a new evil: Maddox Hatter.
Personally, I still can’t believe a 2010s UK pop star is playing one of the most iconic fictional queens of all time. If you’re British, you have to watch it for that reason alone. — J.V.
Murder 101 (main video)
Look
Prime Video’s new three-part documentary series is fascinating. Murder 101 is about a high school sociology class based in rural Tennessee who helps revive a decades-old case in a shocking modern-day search for a killer.
It’s the kind of thing you’d expect to find in a work of fiction, the one on Netflix. How to get away with it It comes to mind, but this is 100% real. You can also check out the podcast of the same name if you want to go deeper.
Ultimately, this show shows the power of a local community as we follow a group of students turned amateur detectives. I’m already locked up. — L.B.
