Welcome everyone to June 2026, and what a fantastic start to the month it is for the best streaming services.
In fact, with 13 great-looking new movies and TV shows hitting many of the world’s top streamers in recent days, there really is something for everyone to enjoy this weekend (June 5-7). As always, we’ve selected seven new releases that we think are must-watches, so read on to find out what we recommend watching at home before you head back to work on Monday. — Tom Power, Senior Entertainment Reporter
Hoppers (Disney+)
Hoppers is the latest Pixar movie to come to Disney+, and I bet you’ve already seen plenty of memes about it. Tom Lizard has been all over my Instagram feed, making a lasting impression even before it hits theaters in early March.
All the hype has also been spot on, as this is the kind of fun the whole family can enjoy. So, sit back and enjoy a story about an animal-loving student who transfers her mind into a robotic beaver to communicate with the animals, which inadvertently sparks an uprising among them. It really is brilliant. — Lucy Buglass, Senior Entertainment Writer
Cape Fear (Apple TV)
Look
Javier Bardem gets into the skin of the villain Max Cady on Apple TV’s cape fear. I love seeing him be as sinister as ever, and it’s clear he’s having the time of his life in this role. If the title sounds familiar, it’s because it’s a TV version of the 1962 and 1991 films, based on John D. McDonald’s classic novel. The executioners.
Anyway, the 10-episode Apple TV Original, which began with a double-episode premiere, focused on Tom and Anna Bowden (Patrick Wilson and Amy Adams), the husband-and-wife lawyers who put Cady behind bars years earlier. Their idyllic life soon turns into a nightmare as Cady seeks revenge for what they did.
It’s the ultimate non-stop weekend thriller that guarantees plenty of scares after a long week. To quote the haunting trailer: “you deserve this.” — pound
Office Romance (Netflix)
Look
J-Lo back in a romantic comedy? Is it 2004? No, we are in 2026 and we have a new romantic movie starring Jennifer Lopez in the form of office romance on Netflix.
As the title suggests, we are looking at a scandalous employment relationship. Lopez plays Jackie, president and CEO of Air Cruz, who runs a strict business that includes a rigid anti-fraternization policy for all of her employees.
However, all that goes out the window with their firm’s new lawyer (Brett Goldstein) when they risk their careers by pursuing a forbidden adventure. What makes this even better is the fact that Lopez and Goldstein now have romance rumors in reality, meaning art would completely imitate life. —Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter
NSFW (Hulu/Disney+)
Look
After absolutely bombing the convenience of watching TV earlier this year with Execution point season 2 (sorry, not sorry), Mindy Kaling is back with a new series Not fit for workwhich is now available on Hulu and Disney+.
Taking the work experience of Generation Z and injecting a touch of comedy into the natural misery, Kaling explores the first steps of employment when kids are just out of college. It’s funny, raunchy and kind of unbelievable, but there’s enough Friendsnuances of style to make viewing very satisfactory. — J.V.
The Legend of Vox Machina season 4 (Prime Video)
Look
The legend of Vox Machinaalso known as Amazon’s animated retelling of the first Dungeons & Dragons campaign from popular role-playing group Critical Role, has returned to Prime Video for its fourth and penultimate season.
Set one year after last season’s finale, which saw the eponymous team of warriors, wizards, elves and bards go their separate ways, season 4 sees them come together again when a new otherworldly evil awakens and threatens their world.
Episodes one to three are available now, with three more batches, comprising three episodes each, releasing every Wednesday until the end of June. Enjoy them while you can, because the fifth season of the R-rated show, which is currently in development, will be its last. — T.P.
Passenger (HBO Max)
Look
This should just be common sense, but before we wax lyrical about how brilliant it is Pillion I mean, don’t watch it with your family this weekend on HBO Max.
Colin (Harry Melling) is an affable, mousy young man who catches the attention of biker Ray (Alexander Skarsgård), and the two begin to explore a dominant-submissive relationship. Without a clear definition, their relationship is challenging and beyond unconventional, with Colin growing in character before our very eyes. It’s strangely romantic with a strong sense of longing, even if everything in sight is anything but.
There’s more sex, nudity, and embarrassing conversations than one person can handle, but Pillion It’s also one of the most profound movies I’ve seen in years. An extra thank you to first-time director Harry Lighton, who includes an unexpected mention of my home town, Great Dunmow. — J.V.
Michael Jackson: The Verdict (Netflix)
Look
Michael Jackson: the verdict revisits the high-profile case of the late, controversial, eponymous music superstar, giving viewers a deeper look at what happened through jurors, eyewitnesses, accusers and defenders.
Over three episodes, the documentary series shows first-hand accounts from people closest to the case. Tudum describes it as a “comprehensive historical record of a trial the public never got to see,” with contributors including family lawyer Brian Oxman and journalist Martin Bashir.
Expect archival footage, trial notes and media coverage, many of which still cause debate to this day. — L.B.
