Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered all electricity distribution companies on Saturday that immediately stopped the collection of electricity invoices by August 2025 of regions affected by flooding throughout the country, said Associated Press of Pakistan.
The announcement was held during a high -level meeting called to review the situation in areas affected by recent floods. The Prime Minister said that a comprehensive aid package for these regions would be completed after the conclusion of the ongoing discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The prime minister also ordered that any August invoice already paid by consumers affected by floods must comply with the next billing cycle, providing a direct financial relief to homes that fight against the disaster.

“Millions of people have been displaced and affected by these devastating floods,” said Prime Minister during the meeting. “In this difficult time, we are doing everything possible to relieve the pain of our people.”
He added that federal and provincial institutions remained completely mobilized in rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts.
“We will not rest until each victim of the flood has returned home,” he said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to long -term recovery.
The floods caused by this year’s heavy monsoon rains and the swollen rivers had killed at least 946 people in Pakistan since the end of June, and had flooded large stripes of agricultural lands.
The authorities said the floods had submerged more than 4,500 villages and affected more than 4.4 million people in the province since the end of August. They added that at least 2.4 million people had been evacuated so far.
