- ShinyHunters says it took advantage of Anodot breach to affect Rockstar Games
- Group demands ransom by April 14, 2026 or will leak stolen files
- Rockstar confirms limited non-material data was accessed, with no impact on players
Rockstar Games is the latest victim to have its data stolen in the Anodot supply chain attack carried out by cybercriminal gang ShinyHunters against “dozens of companies.”
ShinyHunters gives Rockstar until April 14 to pay the ransom demand or they will release the stolen files on the dark web. However, if you were hoping that criminals would release the source code or a demo version of the game, it most likely won’t happen.
Rockstar confirmed the infringement to The cybersecurity gurusaying that the stolen data wasn’t really that important and noting that “this incident has no impact on our organization or our players.”

“No impact”
“We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach,” the company said.
Unfortunately, until ShinyHunters releases the data, or Rockstar comes forward with more details, it’s impossible to know what the nature of the files really is, or if there is any sensitive or contact data inside.
It recently emerged that Anodot, an AI-powered cloud-based analytics platform, was breached by the infamous ShinyHunters ransomware group. The bad actors managed to find the company’s authentication tokens, which allowed them to access Snowflake customer accounts.
They also attempted to access Salesforce accounts, but were apparently blocked before they were successful.
“Rockstar Games, your Snowflake instances were compromised thanks to Anodot.com. Pay or leak,” ShinyHunters reportedly told the company.
“This is a final warning that you must submit by April 14, 2026 before it is leaked, along with several annoying (digital) problems that will come your way. Make the right decision, don’t be the next headline.”
For those unfamiliar with the name, Rockstar is behind some of the biggest names in the gaming industry, such as Grand Theft Auto (GTA), Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne, and many others.
He is currently working on GTA VI, which is scheduled to release in late 2026, arguably one of the biggest and most anticipated game releases of the decade.
ShinyHunters has been active in the cybercrime space for some time, with previous targets including Microsoft, Ticketmaster, Cisco, and AT&T.
