- Some Pixel owners report that their batteries are draining very quickly
- This appears to be due to a bug introduced in a March update, which affects Deep Doze.
- Unfortunately, there is no solution yet.
Since the March Google Pixel update, some users have been experiencing a serious battery bug on their phones, and it’s one that wasn’t fixed in the April Pixel update and currently has no other fix either.
As Android Police discovered, there are threads on the Reddit and Google support forums complaining about the issue, and it appears to affect a wide variety of phones, from the Pixel 7 to the Google Pixel 10 series.
There aren’t a ton of reports, so thankfully it may not be widespread, but it seems like a major issue for those affected, with one Reddit user claiming they now “have to get paid.” [their Pixel phone] 2 or 3 times a day.”

That’s a serious problem, especially if you’re out and about with your phone all day, since you can no longer rely on it to survive until you get home or somewhere you can charge it.
A mode you probably haven’t heard of doesn’t work
But although there is no fix yet, OddAtmosphere1793 on Reddit found a possible explanation for the error. They claim to have discovered that a firmware bug prevents their Pixel from entering Deep Doze, a mode that should automatically activate when the phone is idle to reduce performance and background activities, in order to conserve battery.
The good news is that they posted the bug on Google’s Issue Tracker and encourage anyone affected to hit the “+1” button there, so Google engineers can see it and hopefully prioritize a fix.
In the meantime, we’ve got a guide to boosting your Android phone’s battery life, so you might want to try some of these ideas as a workaround.
