Ellen DeGeneres returns to the big, or rather, small, screen, bringing with her everyone’s favorite forgetful fish.
The former talk show host will reprise her role as Dory in a new short film set in the Finding Nemo universe, according Deadline.
No further details have been announced at this time.
Return marks DeGeneres’ first acting credit since 2021’s Pixar Popcorn miniseries, in which he also voiced the beloved blue fish.
She originally gave life to Dory in 2003. Finding Nemowhich won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, before reprising the role in 2016. Finding Dory a global phenomenon that raised more than a billion dollars worldwide.
The news is notable given that DeGeneres, 68, had suggested that her public appearances were effectively over.

“‘The Be Kind Girl Wasn’t Nice.’ That was the headline. Here’s the problem: I’m a comedian who had a talk show and I ended the show every day saying, ‘Be kind to each other.’ If I had ended my show saying, ‘Go fuck around,’ people would have been pleasantly surprised to find out that I’m kind.”
Before the special’s release, he had told a California audience that it would likely be his last on-screen appearance.
“This is the last time you’ll see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
Dory, it seemed, had other plans.
