Ubisoft has confirmed it Assassin’s Creed Black Flag resynchronized will feature Sony’s enhanced PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) AI upscaling technology.

Ubisoft said it is “leveraging PS5 Pro to deliver an immersive hacking adventure” to offer improved visuals and optimized performance.

“We were very impressed with the improved PSSR. It really redefines the graphical experience in console gaming,” said Jussi Markkanen, Technical Director at Ubisoft Singapore. “It allowed us to render our dynamic tropical world filled with swaying palm trees, violent storms and rogue waves without visible upscaling artifacts, delivering sharp pixel quality and great image stability.”
Nicolas Lopez, technical architect at Ubisoft Montréal, said that Resynchronized Black Flag “further boosts ray tracing across all modes” on PS5 and PS5 Pro, and confirmed that the PS5 Pro version will offer the latest PSSR 2 technology.
Like most PS5 games, this suggests that the game will launch with several graphics modes, such as Performance, Balanced, and Quality.
“PlayStation 5 offers more consistent lighting, while PlayStation 5 Pro offers an uncompromising experience with advanced ray tracing performance and improved PSSR,” said Lopez.
We now also know that the game will use the latest version of Ubisoft’s Anvil engine, which offers denser character faces and environments, models, animations and crowds.
