Sony and Marvel have released another new poster for Spider-Man: New Day – and it didn’t take long for fans to mock the surprising accompanying title.
Posted on the studios’ social media channels, the sheet shows Tom Holland’s Peter Parker wearing his iconic red and blue superhero suit under a winter jacket. The artwork also reconfirms that, if a reminder were needed, that spider man 4 will hit theaters around the world on July 31.

That’s not the only promotional material that Sony and Marvel was unveiled today (May 14).
In fact, a new behind-the-scenes report was also uploaded to the former’s YouTube channel. In it, Holland and director Destin Daniel Cretton talk about filming one of the Marvel Phase 6 movie’s action sequences virtually in Glasgow, Scotland, in August 2025.

Even better, the couple confirms that said scene will be part of the opening number of the next Spider-Man movie. So we’ll see the eponymous hero, with a little help (read: not much help at all) from Frank Castle/Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher, board that armored vehicle in an explosive chase sequence as soon as spider man 4 starts.
With new dayWith the global release just over two months away, in addition to the release of these new marketing materials, I wouldn’t be surprised if another trailer appears online shortly. Why are Marvel fans mocking the latest Spider-Man 4 poster?
By now you will have seen the accompanying title new dayThe poster. If you somehow skipped the first part of this article, here it is in full: “The world has forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.”
Seems pretty harmless, right? So why the hell do fans go out of their way to make fun of said legend? Due to the recent myriad of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) events that have occurred in Spidey’s hometown of New York, in which he has somehow not been involved.
In fact, whether both seasons of Daredevil: Born Againevents described in the recent Disney+ television special The Punisher: One Last Deathor the duo’s big screen cousin in Good heavensfans can’t help but comment on the irony of the aforementioned title.
“Receiving some mixed messages between this slogan and its lack of presence during some pretty critical moments in New York during the last few seasons of Reckless and Punisher: one last death“one ResetEra user joked, before another person added: “Don’t forget his lack of presence on Good heavens“.
“Are you sure about that, Peter?” asked another ResetEra forum member. “Little Sicily [the New York district depicted in One Last Kill] “I could use a little help.”
Despite the slogan, others have questioned the overall quality of the poster and whether it was created using artificial intelligence (AI). You only need to take a look at the r/marvelstudios, r/spiderman, and r/marvelstudiospoilers threads for a sample of other negative comments that have been received since its introduction. Let’s hope, then, that a new trailer is released soon to get fans talking about the film in a positive way again.
