A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If you are instead looking for the Thursday puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips and Answers for Thursday, July 16 (Game #865).

NYT Strands Today (Game #866): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game #866 are…
- ENTERTAINMENT
- NATURE
- SPORTS
- GEOGRAPHY
- SPANGRAM: TRIVIALP SEARCH
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
Initially I thought we would be looking for synonyms for the word category, but instead we were looking for four of the six segments (or cheeses) that complete a game piece in TRIVIALPURSUIT.
History and science are missing from the list.
Detecting ENTERTAINMENT, a difficult word to hide, was what started me, and the letter V helped me connect the spangram. In short, much shorter than a real TRIVIALPURSUIT game.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Thursday, July 16, game #865)
- TACK
- ZIGZAG
- FOLD
- TACK
- DEVIATE
- PIVOT
- TURN
- SPANGRAM: CHANGE COURSE
