Sharon Stone talks about how to beat ‘damn’ drug addiction

Hollywood star Sharon Stone has opened up about her brutal experience overcoming a “freaking” drug addiction and revealed how she finally got her life back after decades of relying on stroke medication and cannabis.

Talking to the digital magazine nineteen92 During an interview at her Beverly Hills estate, the iconic actress detailed her difficult journey toward a completely drug-free lifestyle, which began when she decided to stop taking a long-term prescription medication after her near-fatal stroke in 2001.

Stone explained that even though doctors told her she would never be able to quit the medication, she insisted on stopping it last September, describing the intense withdrawal process as similar to quitting heroin.

She remembered feeling as sick as a damn dog for four and a half months, driven solely by the desire to get her life back.

Having already eliminated most of the prescription medications she had been prescribed over the years, the actress decided to take the final step and stop smoking marijuana as well.

However, quitting cannabis caused another serious bout of illness that lasted a month, which her neurologist explained was related to the dangerous additives often found in modern marijuana compared to when she was younger, noting that people have even died in emergency rooms from it.

The journey toward sobriety coincides with a major creative renaissance for the star, whose long-standing passion for painting has recently transformed into a thriving global career.

Having studied fine arts in college before dropping out to pursue modeling in New York with just $50 and a suitcase, Stone reignited her artistic obsession during the COVID lockdown.

What started with a few canvases in her bedroom eventually led her to removing furniture from the space, hammering nails into the walls, and living in a makeshift artist’s loft.
