There is love in the air for European royalty as young people finally find partners to settle down with and others find a second chance at love.
Recently, King Charles’ nephew Peter Phillips married Harriet Sperling for the second time. It was then revealed that the monarch’s great-nephew, Samuel Chatto, proposed to his long-time girlfriend.
As the British royals get their happily ever after, there’s already drama surrounding the Danish crown prince’s love life. Christian, the eldest son of King Frederick and Queen Mary, has been romantically linked to 21-year-old Sydney student Emma Nygaard Fritzen.
According to sources, Queen Margaret wants her grandson to maintain his father’s playboy phase and ask the question directly, but Mary disagrees.
“Margrethe thinks it would be a mistake to let Christian spiral out of control before settling down, like he did with his father,” a source told Woman’s Day.
Meanwhile, Mary thinks her 20-year-old son is too young to settle down and Emma herself needs some time before making the big decision.
“Mary knows better than anyone that real life is all-consuming, and the last thing she wants is for Christian to feel like he ‘owes’ Emma for some imaginary ‘sacrifice’ she made by joining the family,” the source added.
“Mary, to her credit, worries that Emma will regret being thrown straight into the royal fold without leaving her own mark on the world.”
The young couple shares the same interests and hopes for the future, but it is not clear whether they have had a very serious relationship, especially considering that Christian still has a lot of training to receive for the role that is intended for him.
