ISLAMABAD:
The Supreme Court registrar has said that the process of classification of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases is underway following the court’s recent judgment on the NAB’s jurisdiction, adding that around 300 NAB-related cases are currently pending before the SC.
The remarks were made on Wednesday during a press conference by Supreme Court Registrar Sohail Laghari and Chief Justice Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed, who highlighted the court’s digital transformation and administrative reforms.
Ahmed said the SC is gradually working to transfer the authority to fix cases to an artificial intelligence (AI) based system to ensure that cases are scheduled strictly in accordance with the approved policy while eliminating human intervention in the process.
He said the SC currently provides a total of 35 services, most of which have already been digitized and available online. He added that work is underway to digitize another 12 services as part of the court’s ongoing digitization initiative.
Speaking to the media, the registrar said that after the recent judgment on NAB matters, the court is in the process of classifying the pending cases. He stated that there are currently around 300 NAB cases pending before the Supreme Court.
The officials also shared details of the court’s complaints management system. According to the report, the complaints cell of the Supreme Court has received a total of 50,830 complaints, of which only two were directly related to judicial officials.
They said action had been taken against the official concerned in a case involving corruption allegations. The report further revealed that the Overseas Complaints Cell received 1,063 complaints, including 22 SC-related complaints, of which 14 have already been resolved.
