- Kape Technologies, owner of Expressvpn, has announced a wave of layoffs at the VPN company
- The total number of redundancies remains unconfirmed
- This occurs weeks after the main updates of its patented light guard guard protocol
Expressvpn has announced a round of redundancies in an official statement.
This is the second time that the company owned by Kape Technologies has taken the ax to its workforce in two years after it threw 12% of its staff in July 2023.
According Tom guideExpressvpn has not specified the number of lost works, so far, with the statement I only read that the company has made the “difficult decision to reduce the size of our workforce.”
The statement does not mention any cuts in private Internet access (PIA) or Cyberghost, two VPN also under Kape’s umbrella.
ExpressvPN is still announcing several work openings both in engineering and security on the company’s website, as well as marketing and accounting and finance. So, the significant thing is as signs of problems ahead for this VPN service is difficult to evaluate.
In fact, Expressvpn recently launched significant updates about its VPN protocol, Lightway, along with the main updates of its Linux application earlier this month. The company also entered the Esim market with the launch of Holiday.com in December.
There also seems to be many funds in the marketing chests with ExpressvPN announcing an association with the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club as the official digital privacy partner in November.
ExpressvPN places in third place in the best VPN guide in Techradar at the time of writing. He exceeded those graphics for several years until the beginning of 2024, when NordvPN was named Best VPN.
Expressvpn slid later that year when Surfshark got into the second.
We hope to try expressly in the coming months to see how its Lightway protocol has improved and if your attempt to be the fastest VPN in the block has received an impulse from LightWay Turbo.
