LAHORE:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif informed the president of PML-N, Nawaz Sharif on Sunday, on the decisions taken by the National Security Committee meeting (NSC) following the suspension of the India Water Treaty (IWT) by India after a militant attack in the Pahalgam area of Held Kashmir.
Shehbaz called Nawaz to his family residence in Jati Umrah with Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, he also attended. Shehbaz informed his older brother about the decision taken by the apex body and the preparation of the country to respond to any aggression with greater force.
According to the reports, the prime minister told his older brother that Pahalgam was another false flag operation of the Indians to create instability in the region. He said that India’s unilateral decision to suspend the IWT had captured the risk of a war in the region.
He said that Pakistan is committed to peace, but that the security of the nation was not negotiable.
According to a PML-N source, Nawaz Sharif wants your government to use all the diplomatic resources available to restore peace between the two nuclear armed states. He said Nawaz was not interested in taking an aggressive position.
Early in the day, the Minister of Defense, Khawaja Asif, offered India to form an international commission, including officials from the United States, Iran, China, Russia and Great Britain to investigate the incident, stating that if this happens, Pakistan will present the events before the world.
He said that tensions between two nuclear armed states represented a risk to the stability of the whole world, which underlines the need for the international community to take stock of ascending tensions.
“Despite knowing that it was a false flag operation, we are ready to work with any commission of this type to close the curtains in this drama. However, India will witness our preparation, if you continue with any misfortune,” he added.
