The Texas Chainsaw Massacre The franchise has come a long way since 1974, with sequels and reboots of varying quality. I was initially undecided about A24’s next film, but the news of its director changed my mind.
According to an exclusive report from Variety, Curry Barker will direct the latest Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. If you’re not familiar with Barker’s work, he recently dominated the horror scene with his new film. Obsessioninspired by Monkey’s Paw’s concept of wishes that come with a sinister price.
In his critically acclaimed film, we follow a man who purchases a supernatural toy and wishes his childhood friend would fall in love with it. Naturally, this is not a fairy tale ending and things turn dark very quickly.

What should we expect from the new adaptation of Texas Chainsaw?

With nine films already on the market Texas Chainsaw canon, it seems like a reinvention is the right way to go. Barker is an incredibly creative director, and his debut was an $800 found footage film called milk and series, which was released on YouTube, to a very positive critical response.
According to inside sources, Barker’s Texas Chainsaw The film will be a “reimagining” of the 1974 horror classic. However, we still don’t know much as its story about Leatherface and his victims is still under wraps.
The film is being developed alongside a Texas Chainsaw TV series from Glen Powell and Dan Cohen, and director JT Mollner, about which I recently expressed my apprehension.
Taking all this into account, it seems like Barker is a great choice to adapt the franchise for a modern audience. We don’t have plot details or trailers to judge yet, but initial reports are really promising.
I’m optimistic about a new era of Leatherface, something I didn’t expect to say after we’ve already had so many movies.
