The quarterfinal phase of the World Cup is ready and begins on Thursday with France vs. Morocco. Despite an exciting road to this point in the tournament, some teams unexpectedly found their way into the remaining eight teams.
The category has good clever teams and confident squads that will surely reach the finals on July 19.
These are my power rankings for the World Cup quarterfinals. And remember: these are my rankings. If you don’t like them, get your own.
The odds are as of Thursday morning.
8.
Odds of winning: +3300
In eighth place is the team we just saw beat Colombia, and that will be Switzerland. Switzerland is pretty good, but I don’t think anyone is going to argue with the Swiss at number 8.
7.

Odds of winning: +3000
Our friends Belgium, who just kicked our butts, are ranked number 7.
6.

Odds of winning: +2700
It’s difficult, but I put Morocco in sixth place. Morocco could certainly be high, but I’ll put it at six. I probably could have put Morocco ahead of Spain.
Ed. Note: Morocco was sent home after losing to France 2-0 on Thursday.
5.

Odds of winning: +360
This is probably the most controversial: Spain at number 5. I think a lot of people would put Spain higher.
4.

Odds of winning: +460
This is the one that hurts me the most, especially after that game, where they lost to Azteca and beat Mexico in a historic rout. You will arrive at 4 and should feel confident going forward.
3.

Odds of winning: +1400
Norway was a lot of people’s “dark horse”, and they have lived up to that and more in the sense that they are no longer a dark horse. I still think that even with what Lionel Messi is doing right now, what Erling Haaland is doing is just as good, and I could even argue that it’s better given the supporting cast. It is not a lack of supporting cast, because that is a lack of respect towards the rest of the Norwegian players, but he is not playing for a team as good as Argentina.
2.

Odds of winning: +400
Speaking of Argentina, they are still at 2. They have had two games now that, while they have been exciting, are two games that they have struggled with and had to suffer, which is still surprising that they have come out winners. Credit to them. Still, I’m being a little generous to Argentina. Argentina has been a bit unstable.
1.

Odds of winning: +180
Is there really any other option at this point? Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise, Ousmane Dembélé. I don’t need to say anything more than that.
