Anne Hathaway is setting the record straight after the Internet became a behind-the-scenes moment for The Devil Wears Prada 2 in a full-fledged fashion drama.
The actress recently found herself at the center of viral headlines after Meryl Streep revealed that Hathaway pressured producers to include plus-sized models in an important scene.
Some people online somehow translated that into: models were fired.
According to Hathaway? At all.
“No one lost their job, in fact, more jobs were created,” he explained during an appearance on Good Morning America.
The actress said it all started as a quick observation on set after noticing that most of the models fit the traditional runway mold.
“I thought the scene would be a lot more crowd-pleasing if we had a wider range of bodies on display,” Hathaway said. “Because all different shapes are beautiful.”
Simple. Logical. Very Andy Sachs with guts.
Hathaway added that the producers immediately agreed once she brought it up. “They were the ones who made this happen in about an hour.”
And apparently there’s another major detail that fans are obsessed with: a mysterious song written by Lady Gaga for the movie.
“There’s a song that Lady Gaga wrote and it’s a beautiful, incredible song,” Hathaway joked. “Isn’t it better when you see so many different types of bodies up there?”
Honestly? Miranda Priestly would probably still judge everyone the same.
But this time, the runway is making room for more than one body type, and Hathaway seems pretty proud of it.
