- Shark has launched a new Luxe collection of robotic and cordless vacuum cleaners
- The range features muted colours, satin finishes and metallic details.
- It was designed in collaboration with designer and television personality Jeremiah Brent.
Robovacs are perfect for keeping your home tidy between deep cleanings, but they’re not very attractive. Even the best robot vacuum cleaner is usually a piece of black or white plastic that sits on a matching dock, and it’s something you’d probably prefer to hide if possible; Some owners even build miniature garages to keep their robots out of sight. Now, Shark has come to the rescue with a robot vacuum cleaner that looks more like a work of art than an appliance.
The company has teamed up with interior designer Jeremiah Brent of AD100 design studio, who you may remember as the interior design expert on seasons 9 and 10 of strange eye. He’s used his experience to help develop a new version of the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-in-1 vacuum and mop that looks much better looking than the original, while cleaning just as well.
We gave the PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop four stars out of five in our review, and were particularly impressed by its obstacle avoidance, edge cleaning with extendable mop pads, and its ability to clear thresholds. However, there’s not much to see, which is unfortunate for such an eye-catching device.
Now, however, the same vacuum is available in four new subtle colors: Evergreen, Ivory, Espresso, and Deep Harbor (navy), all of which have matching satin-finished metal trim.
These new Luxe Collection robot vacuums are available for the same list price as the original black model ($1,299.99, which works out to around £970 / AU$1,820), although it’s worth noting that the black version is currently discounted to $949.99 (around £710 / AU$1,330) on Shark’s online store.
As of this writing, the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop Luxe Collection is only available in the US, but I expect it to be ready to clean homes around the world very soon.
Wireless and elegant
If you’re tired of an ugly cordless vacuum taking up space on your wall, the Shark Luxe collection also includes a sleeker version of the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Vacuum. This lightweight vacuum with flexible head now comes in four additional colors (Oatstone, Harbor Slate, Sagewood, and Walnut), which are again finished with muted metallic accents.
Each vacuum cleaner has a list price of $499.99 in the US or £499.99 in the UK (around $700 AU). They are not currently available in Australia, but are expected to launch there shortly.
Our tester Tim Gee gave the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Vacuum four and a half stars in his review, saying: “It did a great job picking up fine dust and larger debris in our tests on carpets and hard floors, has good edge cleaning and can be easily moved around the house, making it an ideal occasional cleaner.”
