Ariana Grande is leaving a trail of petals for fans to follow as the countdown to her new album continues.
Prior to the release of their eighth studio album, petalon July 31, the pop star has been treating her fans to previews of the album during her current eternal sunshine tour. While performing for five nights at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Grande revealed snippets of two new songs: Petal and Kiss Me.
In a sneak peek of the title track’s music video, shared to Instagram on July 18, the Grammy winner gave fans their biggest glimpse yet of the album’s mysterious track. Directed by collaborator Christian Breslauer, the clip begins with a “Wanted” sign.
“Wanted! STAR AUDITION TODAY…TV AND FILM INDUSTRY…Major studios are asking for fresh faces who can follow directions and have a good personality…FAME INC,” the poster reads.
The teaser then cuts to a pair of heels running over a broken Hollywood Walk of Fame star, where a single flower has sprouted on the pavement. A close-up of a man taking a long drag on a cigarette before flashing a smile adds an eerie tone, before Grande’s silhouette appears on stage as the word “petal” lights up the screen behind her.
Grande also surprised her fans with a preview of Kiss Me, the album’s opening track, during the fourth night of her shows in Brooklyn.
“Kiss me like you know this is goodbye / We could try to make it to the top / Hold on like my life is on the line,” Grande sings as she floats through rings of asteroids in space.
The 33-year-old artist previously released the album’s lead single, I hate that I made you love melast month.
