Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named Premier League Player of the Season following a historic individual campaign. The veteran midfielder claimed the prestigious honor ahead of several title-winning Arsenal stars, while versatile Manchester City academy graduate Nico O’Reilly scooped the Young Player of the Season award.
The Red Devils captain makes history
Fernandes has secured the Premier League’s first Player of the Season award after guiding United back to the Champions League. The 31-year-old playmaker enjoyed an impressive creative campaign, scoring eight top-flight goals and equaling the all-time record of 20 assists in a single season. By conquering a star-studded list, the Portugal international became the seventh different Old Trafford representative to claim the award, and the first since Nemanja Vidic in 2011.
Equaled historical attendance record

The experienced talisman’s exceptional statistical production allowed him to emulate legendary top-class creators Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne by reaching the 20 assist mark. This latest managerial triumph follows his recent coronation as FWA Footballer of the Year. Fernandes captured the individual award over Arsenal’s formidable title-winning trio of David Raya, Gabriel Magalhaes and Declan Rice, along with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, Morgan Gibbs-White and Brentford’s Igor Thiago.
City Prodigy Lands Youth Award
Meanwhile, City star O’Reilly capped a sensational year under Pep Guardiola by winning the Young Player of the Season award. The 21-year-old youth player established himself as an indispensable tactical asset, recording 34 senior appearances in multiple positions, including left-back and central midfield. O’Reilly beat out contemporary nominees including Rayan Cherki, Eli Junior Kroupi, Mateus Fernandes, Lewis Hall, Michael Kayode, Kobbie Mainoo and Alex Scott.
The World Cup test is approaching
O’Reilly must now quickly move from homegrown national success to the top level of international football after earning a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England World Cup squad. The versatile youngster comes into the tournament in perfect form following his winning performances at Wembley in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals.
Instead, Fernandes shifts his focus towards the World Cup and his leadership role with Portugal, while Michael Carrick and Manchester United look to take care of business in the transfer window.
