Taylor Swift and BTS have two of the biggest fandoms in the music industry and the two groups are facing off once again over Jungkook’s album. Golden.
The Swifties believe that the clue Yes or no released in 2023, it looks too similar to that of the pop superstar Light released in 2019, and the two fandoms began arguing whether that’s plagiarism, a case of inspiration, or just a theory.
While the song has been released for a few years now, neither artist has spoken publicly about it, but it’s something their fandoms are still fighting over.
By sharing a clip of the songs side-by-side, he took advantage of the similarities, starting a comment war, as one social media user wrote: “Proves that Jungkook is clearly the better vocalist.”
A Swiftie added, “Hasn’t BTS always been known for plagiarizing? Don’t be surprised by the fact that they always plagiarize.”
However, some argued, “This is not copied. It’s just a two-note melody with the same rhythm” and “Oh please, Jungkook is not sampling her music, he doesn’t need to copy anyone else, especially her.”
One chimed in: “How are you guys supporting a musician, OMG? That stuff doesn’t even qualify for plagiarism. Seriously, go to school. If you’re so mad, ask Taylor to sue Ed Sheeran and she’ll laugh in your faces,” referring to the fact that Sheeran, who is friends with Swift, is the song’s composer and lyricist.
While the battle might be resolved for now, it appears to be far from over.
