Cam Jordan returns to the New Orleans Saints for his 16th year, which he hopes will be his last.

Before heading to training camp for what will likely be a farewell tour, and what he hopes will end with the first Super Bowl of his career, Jordan participated in an event he loves to attend every year.

The annual Sack Summit in Las Vegas, which was started by All-Pro running back Von Miller in 2017 before Jordan and Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby came on board to help organize, is a three-day knowledge-gathering and chemistry-building extravaganza where superstars, veterans, budding phenoms and more collectively grow the position through drills, talks and film study.

It’s an event Jordan told Pak Gazette Digital he was at from the beginning when it was just Miller’s creation. Now, it’s something that has become a must-have on your calendar if you want to grow as a defensive lineman in the NFL, at least in Jordan’s eyes.

“I’ve been a part of those camps for a long time,” he told Pak Gazette Digital, while talking about the impact Raising Cane’s has had over the past three years as a camp sponsor. “So the fact that we can all team up, call our friends in the league and come in and talk about the ball. It’s that mentality.

“You’re talking to [New York Giants star] Brian Burns on how he likes to come after the pass rush. You talk about guys like Chandler Jones in the past, how he liked to change his rhythm with the pass rush, how he would rush to the lead. you look big [Tennessee Titans star] “Jeff Simmons comes to D-tackle and talks about what he likes.”

And even legends of the game come to Sack Summit to share their thoughts, stories and sage advice, including Giants legend Lawrence Taylor, who spoke to the group this year.

“Whether it’s Warren Sapp, John Randle or whoever walks by just talking about how the game has changed, which pass rushers stayed the same. What you see, the influx. It’s about the progressive mentality of pass rushers,” Jordan added.

Considering how long Jordan has been in the league and the Hall of Fame-worthy career he has put into stat sheets and record books, picking his brain is a must for the next generation. But, as he said, he has seen many different generations come through the Sack Summit, all of them hungry to learn.

“Over the last 12 years, you’ve seen the next generation, right? The average NFL contract is three and changing, so you figure that after your first four years, it’s really the next generation if you look at it that way,” he said. “I’ve seen times go by where it’s more about not being afraid to give the information I have at hand. I tell guys all the time that whatever I give you, take it all. Be able to use it all because I’m going to get something back. The best part about the job is that you can always evolve.”

While he might expect the door to close on his career once the 2026 season ends, Jordan will give it his all for the Saints before the final whistle blows. Perhaps, as he chases the names above him on the list of all-time sack leaders, he reaches out to the quarterback using something he learned from his teammates in Sin City. Or vice versa.

“You’re very proud of the people you have an imprint on,” he said candidly.

The Sack Summit is also about impacting communities, as each player can also learn how they can help those cheering them on in the stands when they are off the field.

Jordan, as well as Miller and Crosby, have collaborated with Raising Cane’s and owner Todd Graves to make a difference. For Jordan, he and Graves share a love for the New Orleans community, which is where Raising Cane began. Graves has supported the Cam Jordan Foundation’s Legacy Scholarship program through a donation to provide four exceptional high school seniors with full tuition coverage for four years in January 2025.

And over the holidays, Jordan, as well as his Saints quarterback Tyler Shough, were among the many NFL players who gave away Raising Cane brand bicycles and helmets to children at Boys and Girls Clubs across the country.

“Todd Graves with Cane’s, the ‘One Love’ [slogan]he makes it felt at all times and in any circumstances,” Jordan said. “I’ve been able to lean on him a couple of times in the last few years to get things done, not only with my foundation, but also with Sack Summit and the activations he participates in with Cane’s. He’s such a great serious guy. It’s easy to want to be around him. It’s easy to see that yes, it has ties to Louisiana, which for me is day one, easy to understand. But it’s more that he’s excellent at giving advice.

“He also understands these kids coming up, he really just wants to help guide them down the right path. He has a great ideology about mentoring, he just tries to talk to the next generation because he understands the mistakes he made growing up. He’s like the uncle who’s always trying to impart knowledge, you know?”

The “One Love” motto at Raising Cane’s, which also fed the players during the event, is really what the Sack Summit is about as well. While some of these players will be rivals in Week 1, it’s the art of one of the toughest position groups on the field that brings them together.

The best of the best, learning from the best of the best. For Jordan, and many others who travel to the desert each year, it doesn’t get any better than that.
