- An update to Microsoft Outlook for Mac has broken email responses
- Users are having difficulty uploading responses.
- The issue affects Outlook for Mac version 16.110, build 26061317
If the Microsoft Outlook update released last week has some scratching their heads and wondering where previous email responses have gone, you’re not alone.
An email provider update last week caused the above answers to disappear, and a fix has not yet been posted.
The bug appears to be limited to Mac users running version 16.110, build 26061317. The only known solution at the moment is to roll back to the previous version of Outlook for Mac and (temporarily) disable automatic updates.
Update breaks responses in Outlook for Mac
Several users have shared their frustrations on Microsoft’s Tech Community and Learn forums, stating that the lack of responses is impacting their ability to properly respond to emails or forward email chains to colleagues.
Fortunately, there is a way to fix the problem, as helpfully pointed out by a Microsoft forum moderator. When you go back to the previous version of Microsoft Outlook for Mac, your email replies and threads are restored. But you will have to turn off automatic updates to prevent Outlook from updating back to the corrupted version.
How to roll back your Microsoft Outlook for Mac
- Navigate to Office for Mac Update History using this guide
- Roll back your Outlook to version 16.109.3 or earlier by following the steps provided here
- Turn off automatic updates in legacy Outlook for Mac by navigating to Help > Check for updates, and then uncheck “Keep Microsoft apps up to date automatically.”
- Once a fix is deployed, don’t forget to check again for automatic updates.
Until an official fix is released, this appears to be the only way to upload responses in Outlook for Mac. Any updates from Microsoft will be posted here.
If your organization has certain administrative barriers enabled, you may not be able to delete the current version of Outlook.
