Chris ‘The Bear’ Fallica’s Day 1 World Cup Best Bets, Picks and Predictions

NEWNow you can listen to Pak Gazette articles!

“Bear bets” are real bets that Chris “The Bear” Fallica is actually making.

The World Cup is finally here, and what’s even more exciting is that the United States will be co-hosting it right here on our home turf.

There is nothing better than that.

Well, actually, it can get a little better if we are able to capitalize on the action.

This is how I bet on day 1 of the biggest event in the world.

Best bets for the World Cup: Thursday, June 11

Mexico vs. South Africa

Mexico is a big favorite in its first match against South Africa (Getty Images).

It would be very surprising if Mexico were defeated here, but putting -1200 on Mexico’s double chance is a bit much. Instead, I will consider the highest scoring half of the game to be the second half. My opinion is that in the first half, South Africa will be fresh and there is a possibility that the score will reach half-time at 0-0. However, the second half could be where the Azteca’s heat and elevation take over, and we could see some misses, or even a penalty.

Fallica’s choice: Mexico South Africa Second half with the highest score (+110)

South Korea against Czechia

Look for Czech Republic’s Pavel Šulc to have his eye on the goal in his first World Cup match (Getty Images).

This is an unusual big match, as one of these two will likely be the runners-up in the group behind Mexico. And who knows, maybe El Tri could even be surprised. and end up winning the group. That leads me to believe that these teams will try, especially since the game will be played later in the evening in Guadalajara. Patrik Schick steals the headlines, but Pavel Šulc had an excellent season at home for Lyon, scoring in the playoff final against Denmark. I can see him looking for scoring opportunities here. I’ll take the extra money on shot attempts (which is different from shots on goal, for those new to soccer betting).
