Some good news
Anthropic appeared with an update at 12:30 pm ET on its status page, reporting that “We have seen success rates for logging into Claude.ai, including through Claude Code, stabilize and we are working to fully resolve this issue. We will provide an update shortly.”
Put another way, people can log in to Claud.ai, but it’s not yet clear if they can enter a message and get a result.
A revealing rebound
Downdetector appears to have taken notice of the current sorry state of Claude.ai’s operation. You can see the fever graph is heading north again, which means more reports are coming in from frustrated users.

Claude.ai on the desktop loads and even accepts prompts, but can’t seem to process them. The message “The service is temporarily busy. You may try again shortly” appears.
There are currently no updates on Claude’s status page. Of course, if you’re desperate for your AI solution, you can always turn to Google Gemini or ChatGPT, both of which seem functional at the moment.
A tale of two reports.
While Downdetector shows a quick recovery, Claude’s status page tells another story: “Claude.ai and Platform are down. Login for Claude Code does not work through Claude.ai.”
Why the disconnection? Well, Downdetector, which is based on user reports, may fall behind reality in real time. In this case, we must assume that Anthropic knows more about the status of Claude.ai than Downdetector.
There is a disconnect
If you visit Claude.ai, Claude may appear to work. The page is loading, but many of the functions are offline or throwing errors. When we tried to enter a prompt into a free account, Claude told us that we had used up our complement of prompts for the day, even though we hadn’t used it at all today.
We also tried to log in to a Pro account, but when we entered the verification code that Claude sent us in the mail, the website crashed.
Anthropic’s status page for Claude specifically mentions issues logging into the platform, and my colleague and I are seeing that on mobile. The login fails regardless of the choice and shows this error at the top.
