Peshawar:
KP’s Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur presented a request for writing in the Superior Court of Peshawar (PHC) that seeks the official recognition of PTI as a political party.
The petition appoints the Federal Government, the Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and other relevant institutions as respondents. Challenges section 94 (4) of the 2017 Electoral Rules, arguing that it contradicts the 2017 Elections Law.
According to the petition, PTI is still a functional political party and currently has the majority in the KP assembly. However, the ECP has excluded PTI from the definition of a political party, citing the absence of an electoral symbol.
