CM Maryam announces 100,000 free electric bikes for students

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday said Nawaz Sharif Eminence Schools would be established in every tehsil, while students will be provided with 100,000 free electric bicycles.

At a ceremony in Arifwala, CM Maryam said that the provincial government is converting public schools into modern educational institutions, where children of poor and rich will have equal facilities and opportunities.

He also announced that 100,000 laptops and another 50,000 meritorious scholarships will be provided to students.

Maryam said the law and order situation in Punjab is better, daughters are safe and education erases differences.

The Punjab Chief Minister highlighted the safety of children and stated that education is the power that opens the doors of development by eliminating social differences.

He urged parents not to send their children to unsafe places during the rainy season.

CM Maryam said that in the last few days, 14 children lost their lives due to the collapse of the roof of an under-construction house, which saddens her deeply.

He further said that they are responsible for the 130 million people of Punjab and the millions of students; That is why the government is giving top priority to the education and safety of students.

Maryam said the scope of eco-friendly electric buses is continuously expanding so that children who do not have quality travel facilities can travel safely and comfortably.

The prime minister urged students to proudly say that they are studying in government schools because the government has decided to provide in government schools the same facilities that are available in expensive private educational institutions.

He said education is the greatest equalizing force and higher education opens new avenues for human development.

He said there was extraordinary interest in admissions to the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence, where five thousand students took the test for one thousand places.

He said the lack of all basic facilities is being addressed at a cost of Rs 40 billion in government schools across Punjab, including new classrooms, furniture, toilets, drinking water, fans and other necessary facilities.

He further said that the government is establishing science, technology, mathematics, computer science and IT laboratories, while for the first time artificial intelligence laboratories are also being created so that students of Punjab can also acquire modern knowledge like children in developed countries of the world.

The Punjab chief minister urged students to learn artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics, stating that these skills are a guarantee of success in the future.

“This is just the beginning of change in the education sector in Punjab and 300 modern schools will soon be established across the province,” he added.
