NEW YORK – Adam Copeland and Christian Cage ended a 25-year tag team title drought on Sunday when they forced Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler to resign in their AEW Tag Team Championship match at Double or Nothing.
Cope, Cage and FTR fought in a brutal match that involved ladders, tools and even a burning table. As the match became more and more brutal, none of the four men in the ring were going to give up immediately. Cage had his arm broken multiple times, Wheeler nearly had a chunk of his nose torn off, and barbed wire scraped each competitor’s skin.

Stokely Hathaway, the voice behind FTR, also participated in the match. But Beth Copeland, formerly known as Beth Phoenix, made a surprise appearance to even the odds. But they removed it before it could make an immediate impact.
Meanwhile, Harwood set up a table and poured lighter fluid on it. He then set the table on fire as Wheeler prepared to impale Beth Copeland on it. However, Hathaway was placed in front of Wheeler at the last second and was instead speared across the table.

Adam Copeland and Cage went to work on Harwood immediately afterward, tying him up like a pretzel in multiple submission maneuvers. Beth Copeland found a barbed bat and gave it to her husband, adding to Harwood’s misery.
Harwood uttered the dreaded words: “I quit.” He gave the titles to Copeland and Cage.
Copeland and Cage are a legendary team, winning tag team titles seven times in WWE. But since each of them joined AEW, none of them had been able to obtain any type of gold. But more than 25 years later, they are back at the top of the tag team division.

The last time they were tag team champions was in April 2001. They won the titles at WrestleMania X-7 in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match, but lost them to Kane and The Undertaker just 16 days later.
