Crypto Week Ahead

The main Crypto events this week take place in Washington DC. A House Financial Services subcommittee opens with a hearing on oversight of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s (OCC) comment period on proposed GENIUS Act rules extending anti-money laundering and sanctions standards to stablecoin issuers closes on July 24.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) window on 24/7 trading and perpetual-style bitcoin futures closes on July 27, three months after the regulator authorized the first regulated perpetual bitcoin on Kalshi. The GENIUS Act turned one this month and the rules underpinning it are still being drafted.

The macro calendar focuses on the European Central Bank’s decision on Thursday, and markets are pricing in a wait.

Traders will also be keeping an eye on geopolitical developments and oil prices for possible clues as to what the markets might do next.
