Daniel Radcliffe has intervened in the great harry potter debate about the ranking and is not afraid to go against the grain.
The 36-year-old actor, who played the boy wizard in all eight films from 2001 to 2011, appeared in the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz and was challenged to rank the franchise he knows better than almost anyone.
He admitted beforehand that he hasn’t seen the films in quite some time and that his relationship with his own performances changes over time.
“When I was 18, I was embarrassed to see the earlier movies. Now, I think the early movies are sweet and now I’m embarrassed to see myself when I was 18 or 19,” he said.
“But I guess those dates will continue to change in terms of what I find acceptable about my own work.”
Regarding the first deliveries, it gave an advantage to Chamber of Secrets on Philosopher’s Stonepurely by the force of a creature.
“I would take Chamber of Secrets of those two because I love the Basilisk,” he explained.
His most surprising decision came when comparing goblet of fire with the very dear Prisoner of Azkabanwhich many fans and critics consider the artistic highlight of the series.
Radcliffe took the other path.
“I know everyone wants me to say Azkaban. I know everyone else feels that way, but I love the things I got to do in the fourth movie; It was amazing. So I’ll say Goblet of Fire.”
At the top of his personal ranking is Deathly Hallows Part 2, the emotional finale of the series, a choice that seems appropriate given the weight of what that film represented for everyone involved.
