Danish royalty celebrates historic moment surrounded by family in the US

Countess Atenea de Monpezat has entered a new chapter in her life, celebrating a milestone surrounded by her family in Washington, DC.

The 14-year-old daughter of Princess Mary of Denmark and Prince Joachim of Denmark was confirmed Saturday at Georgetown Lutheran Church, gracefully marking the important rite of passage.

Newly released photos shared by the Danish Royal Family captured a confident Athena, who recently celebrated her birthday in January.

At her side stood her proud parents, with Prince Joachim in a navy suit and Princess Mary in a vibrant floral dress.

Her older brother, 16-year-old Count Henrik of Monpezat, appeared in a warm portrait with his younger sister, while her half-brothers, Count Nikolai of Monpezat and Count Félix de Monpezat, joined the celebration in elegant suits.

The celebration comes as the family continues their life in the United States, having moved to Washington, DC in 2023 to support Prince Joachim’s diplomatic role.
