LAHORE:
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Information Secretary Nadeem Afzal Chan said there remained no differences between the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), stating that recent tensions between the two coalition partners had been resolved.
His comments came barely a day after PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari criticized the PML-N’s alleged attempts to manipulate Gilgit-Baltistan’s electoral process.
However, Chan said there remain no differences between the PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), stating that recent tensions between the two coalition partners between the two sides had now been addressed following a cordial meeting between Bilawal and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Responding to a question about the PPP’s earlier concerns about reducing water allocations to Sindh, which had sparked protests in the National Assembly, and the party’s complaints of being sidelined in decision-making in Kashmir, Chan said that except for Kashmir, which remains an ongoing issue, all other issues have been resolved.
Notably, a day earlier, Bilawal had questioned whether the PML-N intended to “steal GB’s mandate as they had done in Lahore”, a comment widely interpreted as a reference to his own constituency, where he was defeated by a PML-N candidate, now Information Minister, Attaullah Tarar.
He further said that he had initially hidden his concerns after receiving a “thank you message” from the PML-N, adding that this reminded him of a saying by Pir Pagara: when you need it, “they stand up”, but once the need is met, “they grab you by the throat”.
He also claimed that according to Form 45, the PML-N had only won three of 24 seats, but its leaders were still talking about forming the government.
