Tom Hiddleston has revealed if you need to watch Loki on Disney+ to understand his character’s role in Avengers: Judgment Day.
Speaking exclusively to TechRadar, the fan-favorite actor, who has played Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since 2010, said, “I will always say that people need to see” his character’s standalone series. However, Hiddleston would not specifically say whether it was essential to air the show before DoomsdayReleased December 18th.
Marvel fans who have seen the show starring Hiddleston will already know how its second and final season ends. However, one thing every MCU fan will already know is that Loki will return in Avengers: Judgment Day. In fact, Hiddleston was not only part of the initial announcement of the 27-member Doomsday cast in March 2025, but he also made a brief appearance in Avengers: Judgment DayThe first official trailer, which surprisingly made its public debut yesterday (July 20).
Naturally, fans have countless questions after the release of said trailer, including a couple about Loki. What role will he play in the Marvel Phase 6 movie? Will he meet Thor? And, perhaps most important of all, does the Loki show on Disney+ have any relationship to the story that Doomsday will say it?

As part of a larger chat I had with Hiddleston for his new National Geographic docudrama Pompeii: out of timewhich airs on Disney+ and Hulu on July 23, I asked him exactly those questions. As expected, Hiddleston, who has plenty of experience dodging spoiler-based Marvel questions, was not forthcoming with definitive answers.
However, he seemed to drop a small hint that anyone who wants to understand Loki’s role in Avengers 5 You should look for the character’s solo exposure on Disney+, aka one of the best streaming services in the world.
“I always say that people need to look Loki” he told me with a wry smile. “I’m very proud of that program; I put my whole soul into it and I love playing Loki. It’s been 16 years and you know, I reached the end of Avengers: Infinity Warand that seemed to be the end of the Odinson saga.
“But then Lokias a series, it tried to place Loki in the new context. [by] taking him out of time and his reality,” Hiddleston continued. “It confronts his compulsive, self-destructive, and repetitive patterns of behavior, and gives him the ability to be an agent of his own destiny. It was a very enjoyable experience because the whole show is about identity, purpose and belonging, and also about time and how we perceive it and how to best use it.
“So yeah, I would always say if you haven’t seen it, go and do it,” he added. “And, if you haven’t seen it before Doomsdaygo and look at it again.”
