RAWALPINDI:
A Rawalpindi court on Tuesday sentenced Farrukh Khokhar to life imprisonment in the murder case of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Majid Satti, almost four years after the murder.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ejaz Safi announced the verdict. Shortly before the sentence was handed down, court staff ordered Khokhar detained to prevent any escape attempts. Immediately after the verdict they handcuffed him and ordered his transfer to Adiala prison under strict security measures.
A heavy police contingent was deployed at the court complex, where a large crowd had gathered before the verdict. The prosecution accused Khokhar and his co-accused of murdering Majid Satti on August 23, 2022. The case was registered at Sadiqabad police station.

According to the prosecution, Satti was murdered on August 23, 2022, after trying to stop the alleged illegal occupation of land. He was ambushed by gunmen on a motorcycle outside his shop on Sixth Road in Rawalpindi, within the limits of Sadiqabad police station.
Police said the attackers opened fire as he left the premises. Although Satti was shot in the leg, he died from excessive blood loss while being taken to the hospital. Investigators subsequently collected forensic evidence and CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
The case was registered at Sadiqabad police station.
Khokhar is the son of the late Taji Khokhar, a prominent political figure in Rawalpindi who was widely regarded as a close aide of President Asif Ali Zardari. Satti, the victim in the case, was affiliated with the PTI.
