Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi met US Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel on Monday and discussed specialized training to combat counterterrorism financing, as the latter praised the “critical” partnership between their two countries.
Naqvi has been in the United States since Thursday and his recent engagement with regional and international officials has increased interest in this particular visit as Pakistan seeks to keep lines of communication open between Tehran and Washington.
In a post on
Patel said the FBI “deeply appreciates” Pakistan’s support as it protects U.S. interests in the region.
Praising the bilateral relationship between both countries, he added: “Our partnership is fundamental and we hope to have more successes in the future.”

Before arriving at the Capitol, he represented Pakistan at the Fifth United Nations Police Chiefs Summit (UNCOPS 2026) in New York on July 7-8. The meeting brought together interior ministers, police chiefs and senior law enforcement officials from around the world to discuss peace, security and greater cooperation against transnational crime.
Pakistan and the United States have maintained an active counterterrorism partnership focused on combating regional terrorist groups such as the Balochistan Liberation Army, ISIS-Khorasan and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
As part of this effort, both countries maintain regular counterterrorism dialogues to coordinate responses to transnational terrorism and deter violent extremism. Counterterrorism collaboration includes capacity building efforts, sharing of technical expertise and best practices, investigative and prosecution assistance, and provision of infrastructure and border security training.
