Teachers were injured when they intervened while students fought with sticks; Campus security is reinforced
At least five people were injured when a violent clash broke out between two rival student organizations at the University of Karachi (KU) on Thursday, prompting police intervention and increased security on the campus.
According to police, the incident began with a heated verbal exchange between members of the two groups in the lobby of the KU Department of International Relations. The situation quickly escalated into a physical altercation, which spread to nearby classrooms and even the staff room.
Eyewitnesses reported that students from both sides attacked each other with sticks, leaving several individuals bloodied. Teachers who tried to calm the situation also suffered minor injuries.

A large contingent of police rushed to the spot upon receiving reports of violence and managed to bring the situation under control. The injured students were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the affected teachers received first aid on campus.
Police officers at the Mobina City Police Station confirmed that more than five students affiliated with the rival groups had been detained. The police further said that investigations are underway and cases will be registered based on complaints from both parties.
Following the arrests, members of a student group staged a protest on University Road and Abul Hasan Isphahani Road, causing temporary traffic disruptions.
Meanwhile, the university administration has launched its own investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the confrontation. Security has been beefed up in and around the Department of International Relations to prevent further incidents.
