Pakistan conveys condolences over helicopter crash in Saudi Arabia that killed 14

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region under the ‘Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding’ during a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Sunday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the two leaders held an in-depth discussion on recent regional developments and expressed deep concern over the evolving situation.
“Foreign Minister Dar reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue working towards peace in the region in accordance with the ‘Islamabad MoU’,” the statement said.
During the call, Foreign Minister Dar also conveyed Pakistan’s condolences over the helicopter crash in Saudi Arabia that killed 14 people.

He expressed his condolences on behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, the government and the people of Pakistan.
Prince Faisal thanked Pakistan for what the ministry described as a “brotherly gesture” and expressed gratitude for the condolences.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also conveyed his intention to visit Pakistan as soon as possible for both sides. Foreign Minister Dar welcomed the proposed visit and expressed hope that it would materialize soon.

Earlier in the day, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas expressed “serious concerns” about recent ceasefire violations during a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Dar.
Kallas stressed that “communication channels must remain open” as the two leaders reviewed the rapidly evolving regional situation. He also appreciated “Pakistan’s sincere efforts culminating in the signing of the Islamabad MoU.”
Foreign Minister Dar briefed the EU foreign policy chief about Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement aimed at promoting regional peace. He briefed Kallas on “Pakistan’s continued diplomatic efforts towards a comprehensive framework for peace and stability in the Middle East.”
