A former juvenile probation officer has been charged with more than 100 felonies after gaining access to a government database.
Investigations alleged he leaked confidential court and government records to people facing drug trafficking investigation.
Crystal Gaynell Ann Lawson, 32, is charged with 113 felony cybercrime counts, including unauthorized access and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device, court records show.
The arrest warrant affidavit was filed in the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Orange County.
Each unauthorized access to confidential documents carries a prison sentence of up to five years.
If the total is rounded, that brings to 60 years what Lawson would serve behind bars.
The database he accessed was used to spy on an ongoing investigation into fentanyl trafficking and then leaked confidential arrest warrants to the drug cartel, to which his own father had ties.
After appearing in court Friday afternoon, his bond was set at $1.14 million. That’s $10,000 for each charge.
Lawson was employed by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice in February 2022.
Per your job description, you were provided access to the CCIS database. Although she was fired that same year after an arrest, access to her database was not removed.
Orange County correctional records available on its portal list Lawson’s case status as “filed” and show multiple entries for “crime against computer users.”
The leaked data resulted in lost evidence, unrecovered assets, and at least one suspect who fled arrest, although authorities later detained him.
