Ethereum Foundation (EF) co-CEO Hsiao-Wei Wang shared that she has resigned from her role as leader of the organization effective immediately, in a post shared on X on Thursday.
Wang made the decision after a recent sabbatical, which gave him time to reflect on his priorities and future plans. “I have come to feel that this is the right time to take a step back,” he wrote.
His departure follows the resignation of co-CEO Tomasz StaĆczak, who announced earlier this year that he would step down after helping lead a leadership transition at the Switzerland-based nonprofit that supports the development of the Ethereum ecosystem.
During Wang’s sabbatical, Ethereum Foundation board member Bastian Aue helped oversee the leadership transition and took on a larger role in guiding the organization in the interim following the departures of both co-CEOs.
Wang’s departure adds to a period of turmoil at the Ethereum Foundation. At least eight senior figures have left the organization in the past five months, fueling community scrutiny of the EF’s priorities, governance and strategic direction, as Ethereum faces increasing competition from rival blockchains.
