Gordon Ramsay has been the subject of a social media storm after a video allegedly filmed in one of his London restaurants went viral showing a dog standing on a urinating platform near diners.
The clip, which was filmed at the Ramsay’s Street Pizza restaurant in London and shared on TikTok, spread quickly and sparked a wave of criticism from users who questioned the hygiene rules exposed.
“This is disgusting,” one commenter wrote. Another, who identified himself as a dog owner, said it was still “a hard no.”
Several onlookers questioned whether the scene constituted a health code violation, while others said they would have left on the spot.
Part of what fueled the outrage was the restaurant’s association with Ramsay himself, whose reputation for demanding culinary standards made the images seem even more incongruous.
“I know Gordon Ramsay is probably furious right now,” one user predicted, and he wasn’t far wrong.
Ramsay addressed the controversy directly in comments to TMZrejecting the way the situation had been portrayed.
“What we’ve seen is the CCTV footage, and under no circumstances did that dog pee or poop,” he said, calling the reaction “over-exaggerated.”
He also made it clear that the restaurant’s policy only allows dogs on its outdoor terrace, implying that the animal should not have been inside at all.
The clarification did little to completely dampen the debate.
Some users came to Ramsay’s defense, arguing that the reaction had been misdirected.
“Don’t take it out on Gordon Ramsay,” one commenter wrote. “Take it out on the owner who allowed it.”
Others were more relaxed about the issue, suggesting that people were taking it too seriously.
But several viewers maintained that the central problem wasn’t really what the dog did or didn’t do, but rather that pets were brought indoors to eat in the first place.
For a chef who has spent decades building a reputation for precision and cleanliness, it wasn’t the kind of headline he would have expected.
