Residents reported heavy gunfire and a powerful explosion in Block 6 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, triggering panic.
Heavy firing and a powerful explosion were reported in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Saturday, causing panic among residents.
Heavy gunshots were reportedly heard near M Meteor Chowrangi on University Road. Before the shooting, a loud explosion was also heard.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson said Rescue 1122 received a report of an explosion near Block 5 of Gulistan-e-Johar on Saturday.
He said the 1122 Central Rescue Command and Control received the information and immediately sent a team to the incident site.
He added that Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene and are currently evaluating the situation on the ground.
Following the reports, a strong police contingent arrived at the scene.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and contacted Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh and Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi.
According to the prime minister’s spokesperson, Shah has sought a detailed report on the incident from the Additional IGP of Karachi.
He directed the police to immediately ascertain the nature of the incident, reach the scene without delay and ensure that all necessary measures are taken.
