Watch live streams of the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix to see if George Russell can further close the gap on his team-mate in the penultimate race before the summer break.
After winning five races in a row and building a sizable lead in the drivers’ standings, Antonelli has been hampered by reliability issues in two of the last three races, costing him at least a podium finish in Barcelona and what looked like a certain victory at Silverstone. The gap between him and Russell is now just 25 points.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took to the top step of the podium for the first time since 2024, taking two wins in the last three races for the Scuderia. Lewis Hamilton is also just seven points behind George Russell in the standings, and with Spa’s combination of high- and medium-speed corners expected to suit Ferrari, the Italian team will be hoping for another good weekend.
In addition to Mercedes and Ferrari, McLaren is also expected to introduce desperately needed improvements. Despite showing impressive qualifying pace in recent races, they have not converted it into race results, with Lando Norris’ third place finish in Barcelona being his only podium finish in recent outings. To make matters worse, the Englishman will have a 10-place grid penalty for using too many engine parts.
However, the biggest talking point heading into Belgium revolves around Red Bull and Max Verstappen. A rear wing problem in Britain caused an accident and cost Verstappen the podium, after a similar problem ruined his Q3 in Austria. There were already reports that Verstappen was unhappy with Red Bull ahead of Silverstone, and now rumors suggest he could consider a move, potentially to McLaren.
