After the American League won nine consecutive All-Star Games from 2013 to 2022, the National League has turned things around in recent years with victories in 2023 and 2025. Their win 12 months ago in Atlanta came under dramatic circumstances, as they won the first tiebreaker in All-Star Game history, with Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies hitting three home runs and being named MVP.
Schwarber is one of six Phillies players ready to shine at home at Citizens Bank Park, including National League starting pitcher Cristopher Sánchez, but there are many more who are playing in their first Midsummer Classic. In total, 29 players will make their All-Star Game debuts in Philadelphia, including Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Dylan Cease and New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler, both representing the American League.
There will also be emotional appearances from more seasoned stars, including Mike Trout of the American League’s Los Angeles Angels, who will appear in his 12th All-Star Game less than 50 miles from his hometown of Millville, New Jersey.
