Tottenham will be relegated from the top flight for the first time in 49 years this Sunday if they lose to Everton and West Ham beat Leeds. If that were to happen, it would be considered the most shocking fall from grace since Juventus were kicked out of Serie A in 2006 over the Calciopoli scandal.
However, any other combination of results would see Nuno Espírito Santo’s men fall through the trapdoor and into the Championship alongside Wolves and Burnley, who had relegation confirmed several weeks ago.
With a two-point lead over West Ham, Tottenham are firmly in control. Roberto de Zerbi’s men also have a much superior goal difference, so if the teams finished level on points (which would be the case if Tottenham drew their last game and West Ham won theirs), Spurs would be safe.
Although neither Everton nor Leeds have anything to play for, the occasion should sharpen their concentration. Daniel Farke’s men are unbeaten in eight league games and have won four of them, a fine run of form that only recently secured their own Premier League status. Everton are winless in six games and last kept a clean sheet two months ago, but the goals continue to flow for David Moyes’ men.
The reverse matches, by the way, resulted in victories for Leeds and Tottenham.
If Spurs were to hold firm, they would owe a huge debt of gratitude to Aston Villa, who fielded a severely weakened team against them earlier in the month. Shortly after, VAR denied the Hammers a goal that would have secured them a big point against Arsenal.
Whatever happens, it will not be because of a game or a decision. Tottenham is one of the richest football clubs in the world, one of the instigators of the Premier League and co-conspirator of the Super League. West Ham, although no stranger to relegation, is not far away. It could be said that the difficult situation of both clubs is due to years of poor management at management level.

What are the stages of the Premier League Europe?
The race for European places is extremely complicated.
Arsenal, Man City and Man Utd have secured the top three spots and will qualify for the Champions League no matter what happens on the final day of the Premier League season.
Aston Villa (4th, 62 points) has also qualified for the Champions League thanks to its victory in the Europa League. Liverpool (fifth, 59 points), Bournemouth (sixth, 56 points) and Brighton (seventh, 53 points) each maintain their UCL aspirations.
If Liverpool beat Aston Villa, each of the best six The teams would make it to the Champions League, and the seventh-place team would enter the Europa League.
However, if Unai Emery’s men finished fourth, the fifth-place team would qualify for the UCL, while the sixth and seventh would gain spots in the Europa League.
Bournemouth, Brighton, Chelsea (52 points), Brentford (52 points) and Sunderland (51 points) are all in the Europa League draw. Crystal Palace (15th, 45 points) could also make the cut if they win the Conference League.
Chelsea currently occupy the only place in the Conference League, but once the group is reorganized on Sunday, they could belong to Brighton, Brentford or Sunderland.
What is the outlook for relegation from the Premier League?
Both West Ham (18th, 36 points) and Tottenham (17th, 38 points) will be relegated on the last day of the Premier League.
However, the only scenario in which Spurs would go down is if they lost to Everton. and West Ham beat Leeds.
West Ham would even go down if they finished level on points with Tottenham. This is because Spurs’ goal difference is -10 and the Hammers’ is -22, which would require a ridiculous 12-goal swing in West Ham’s favour.
Wolves (20th, 19 points) and Burnley (19th, 21 points) have already been relegated, but Old Gold could still save some pride by beating the Clarets.
