The fifth and final major of the season will be electric, with many of the top contenders set to fulfill great personal ambitions at Royal Lytham & St Annes, none more so than Ryu Hae-ran and Nelly Korda.

Victory would make Miyu Yamashita the first player to compete in consecutive majors since Yani Tseng in 2011, a scenario that is not out of the question given her current form. The 24-year-old has finished in the top five in four of the last six tournaments she has played.
Yamashita’s win a year ago consigned Charley Hull to her second Women’s Open runner-up finish in three years, but she has one big reason to be cheerful this weekend: the last two Women’s Open winners at Royal Lytham were British.
