Watch the 2026 US Open live broadcasts, as the tournament returns to the scene of some of its most infamous scenes: Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. It’s here where Brooks Koepka won by a score of 1 over in 2018, and where Retief Goosen’s 4-under par topped the charts in 2004, after the seventh green had to be watered by hand mid-round.
Long Island’s links-style course has drawn the ire of numerous greats, including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy, because it is exposed to the winds and its greens are fast, firm and unforgiving. Seeing how many of the game’s top stars threw their toys out of their strollers during the build-up to last month’s PGA Championship, we’d be surprised not to see a tantrum or two this weekend.
That said, tournament organizers have decided not to narrow the fairways as they normally do, which should benefit big, sometimes wayward hitters McIlroy, Cameron Young and Bryson DeChambeau in particular.
This will be Scottie Scheffler’s first attempt at the Grand Slam of his career, which only six other golfers have achieved, and the final round coincides with his 30th birthday.
JJ Spaun holed a 64-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to beat Robert MacIntyre for the US Open title last year, while Koepka edged out Tommy Fleetwood by a single stroke in the tournament’s final visit to Shinnecock. While everyone around him lost their minds, Aaron Rai held his nerve to conquer the difficult setup of the PGA Championship. It will be worth keeping an eye on them all this weekend.
