ISLAMABAD:
The hearing of a case related to drug use in educational institutions in the federal capital will be taken up on May 19 by a bench headed by Justice Raja Inam Amin Minhas of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
During the previous hearing, the court had issued notices to the Chief Executive Officer of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, directing him to appear personally at the next hearing or ensure the presence of a responsible official fully versed in the matter.
The court had also directed the police and the Pakistan Anti-Narcotics Force to provide assistance in developing a monitoring mechanism for universities.
The petition has been filed before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) by lawyer Kashif Ali Malik on behalf of the Lucky Foundation, which seeks the eradication of drug abuse in educational institutions. The matter is scheduled to be heard on May 19.
